Jacques Guerlain named his creation Mitsouko in homage to the heroine of the novel La Bataille, which was a great success at the time. A beautiful married Japanese woman, Mitsouko secretly loves a British officer. In 1905, the Russo-Japanese War broke out. Dominating her feelings with nobility, Mitsouko awaits the outcome of the battle with dignity. Jacques Guerlain's incredible idea, which gives this fragrance all its modernity, is to have dared to combine a chypre with a note as fruity as peach.
Designed by George Chevalier, its bottle is accented by graceful scrolls characteristic of Art Nouveau. A true technical feat, its avant-garde cap is shaped like a hollowed-out heart.
